Free Salt Tasting

Salt is not just salt!
Even though the funicular and the salt mine in Hallstatt are closed, our shops in Hallstatt remain open daily. At the Salzwelten Market Shop in the town center, you can discover the diversity of “white gold” – and even taste some varieties.

Experience the variety of Austria’s mountains!

Our Selection

The tasting focuses on salts from the Bad Ischler range. Try the delicate gourmet salt SalzZart – hand-harvested salt pyramids from our in-house manufactory at Dürrnberg near Salzburg. You’ll also find the purest natural salt from Austria’s largest active salt mine: in Altaussee, the pristine salt veins are still carefully extracted to this day.
