With every step you take, earth and stone crunches beneath your soles. You see the cloud of your breath in the light cast by the lamps. Above you, next to you: solid rock. How must those Celtic miners have felt here, deep within the mountain, 2600 years ago? Suddenly, the tunnel widens. In the red glow of countless salt lanterns, a subterranean lake shimmers at your feet. It is hard to imagine that all of what you see here was once deep below water.  It is this primordial sea of eons past that we have to thank for the salt – the essence of life – which we have today.
