Salzwelten Hallstatt Take the most modern funicular to visit the world's oldest salt mine!
The world’s most modern funicular takes you up to the Hallstatt High Valley and its famous Celtic burial grounds. After a tour through the salt mine, where salt was already being mined 7,000 years ago, the mine train takes you back out of the depths of the mountain.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Salzwelten Hallstatt will reopen on 29 August 2026! Following extensive construction and modernisation work, Salzwelten Hallstatt is entering a new era with the world’s most modern funicular. From this date, the world’s oldest salt mine, the Hallstatt Funicular, the Skywalk and the Hallstatt High Valley will once again be open to visitors.
We look forward to welcoming you and your guests back to Salzwelten Hallstatt from 29 August 2026.
